Two Knaves and a Queen by vandonovan Two Knaves and a Queen by vandonovan
This is a commission I did for an Australian client. :D Travis 1, Servalan and Travis 2 from Blake's 7. I'm quite pleased with how cute they all came out. :D I never thought I'd say it, but "Goooo Federation!"

Ah man, Van these might be my favorite of your clay creations! Though they're all so awesome. But I love these 3. Servalan seems like she must've been rather challenging. And you make Travis 2 look better than he actually is, haha. <3 all so cute

Ahahahahaha, oh, thank you so much. :D I really like how they all came out. It was painful to ship them away! Servalan was complicated, but I love how she came out! As for T2, so long as he's just standing there and not talking/shouting, he can be almost pretty. XD

They all look great. :) I especially like their shoes. And so shiney. :D
They all look like they're standing on their own too, very naturally, without looking bottom-heavy. *is taking notes* You are certainly nailing these things.
Do you use marker for the eyes?

Man, I wanna go on a chibi-spree now. :|

Thank you! They didn't stand at first and I had to add "Heels" on their shoes, LOL But I'm getting pretty good about balancing them in the oven--I have to brace them on both sides with bread loaf tins, or they have a habit of drooping or falling over while baking.

I use a felt-tip pen for the face, yes. D I also sketch them up before I make them, as it's a lot easier to work off a guide that looks like what I'm making than it is to base it off a realistic photo.

Yeah, it really sucks when they fall in the oven cause then they bake that way. XP I've taken to watching them cook and rushing in to save them. Maybe not the best method. I really must learn balence. :XD:
Yes, thank you, I will take all this into account - and try to make my McCoy stand. :) We shall see how that works. :plotting:

ahahahaha, yeah. My first couple warped in the oven and it made me sad. So just find something else that care go in the over with them. Like I said, I have two mini bread loaves I use. Put on their side with the bottom pressed into the front/back of the character(s). A bit tedious, but it's given good results. Best of luck! Can't wait to see yours. XD

I love the differences in the Travis models. And Servalan is perfect.

I was surprised the commissioner wanted BOTH Travises, but I was happy to do them both and enjoyed making them look properly different. :D And Servalan was just a riot.
